Sometimes things fall in place so beautifully, you know that the Universe has graced you with its love. Just so, with Vishwajeet flying away to a wonderful new journey, we feel abundant, loved, graced.
When Vishwajeet joined Touching Lives, it soon became quite clear that he was a gifted learner. When you look at him, you see this tiny kid with a cute grin and sparkling eyes. But you ask him a couple of questions and you are going to find out, there is an extraordinary mind behind this sparkle. Aditi was his mentor last year and has come to know him well, since the time he joined. She says, “He was always the tiny boy with shiny eyes. But we knew from the start that he stood out from the rest. The way he spoke, the questions he asked, there was always a certain depth in it. You could tell that this little guy is a thinker. All his answers and questions are always apt, appropriate and well thought. So yes, I think as far as learning goes, Vishwajeet is an exceptional kid.”
But this wonder-kid is not going to come to the Learning Centre anymore. And everyone here is extremely excited about that! And if you don’t already know why (because our social media pages have been emphatic about it), then let us break it to you! Our little, super-bright boy has made a head-start into a whole new world of learning. He is among the few children across India, who cleared the tests conducted for a scholarship to the prestigious Aga Khan academy. Was it a stroke of luck? Well, as the famous scientist Louis Pasture once said, “Fortune favours the prepared mind.”
When it was time to take the leap, all the things came together – the benevolence of this beautiful international world school, Vihwajeet’s experience at Touching Lives, his bright mind and smiling fortune, and the grace of the Universe. Ankit, our communications head and mentor, has played an instrumental role in mentoring and supporting Vishwajeet through his journey. Accompanying Vishwajeet to Hyderabad to his new residential school, Ankit was extremely excited to share how life is going be for Vishwajeet, from now on, “The school campus is magnificent, the people working there are very kind and supportive! His dorm-parents explained the daily schedule as well as of the entire year. He roommates are great too!”
The bonding between Vishwajeet and Ankit is special and rare. Ankit shares at length, his thoughts about Vishwajeet with great adoration andrespect, “He has really inspired me and I have formed a very close and strong bond with him. But I am more than happy to let him go – for his better future and to be a contribution to the world. Vishwajeet is a prodigy according to me. Like the great Indian mathematician, Ramanujan who came from a very humble background. He made a great contribution to the world with his mathematical genius. Vishwajeet has all the qualities to do the same for the world in his chosen field.”
So it is then that this prodigy has made a prodigious start. And we at Touching Lives have so much to be thankful for. When our founder Sonia saw the pictures of Vishwajeet’s first day at his new school she revealed what an emotional experience this has been for her, “I can barely hold my tears looking at the pictures of his journey to the academy. It is so so overwhelming.”
Vishwajeet of course is unavailable for comment because he is already engrossed – soaking in the newness.
After thirteen years of our journey from the very basics, this now is a turning point for Touching Lives too, a moment of triumph even. Aditi enthusiastically says, “It is like climbing the Everest, the happiness of someone having reached a peak. This is going to be such an inspiration for other children as well!”
We are holding our breath for our little wonder to make big strides. Vishwajeet we are sending you love and blessings, always and praying for your grand journey ahead. And we will be praying for more deserving children to make it to the other side of the moon.
